Ghost Stories

In 1998, the Guinness Book of Records officially recognised Pluckley in Kent as the "most haunted village in England". Locals say the village and surrounding area has between 12 and 16 ghosts, the Guinness World Records, puts the number at 12.

The Flying Dutchman, according to folklore, is a ghost ship that is doomed to sail the oceans forever. There have been numerous sightings of the ship, and it is usually spotted from a distance, glowing with ghostly light.

One of the world's busiest airports, Heathrow in England is not one of the first places you would think to look for ghosts. However, in recent years the airport has gained a reputation as one of the most haunted locations in the UK.

What I have learned to call The Lennox Haunting, occurred in a haunted house where I lived in terror in for thirty eight days in total. After my experiences in the house we vacated the property and moved to a different home on the outskirts of Lennox.

On July 1, 1863, what began as a skirmish soon escalated into the pivotal battle which would ultimately decide the American Civil war. Over the years extremely high levels of paranormal activity have been recorded at the site and surrounding area.

Tombstone is one of the most famous ghost towns in America, and is one of the most haunted locations in Arizona. A female ghost with maggots crawling out of her ears has been spotted very frequently along with a ghost resembling a goblin.

On a January evening in 1969, during a full moon, Dr White and his wife left home at St Helen's, to attend a dinner party with friends.  But nothing could prepare him for the ghostly figure that would run right through the car later that night.

During the mid 1930's, bewildered and shaken drivers began to appear almost routinely at the Illinois police station, telling strange and frightening stories about a vanishing girl seen on the highway, who would go on to become known as Resurrection Mary.

I visited my brother in Dundee for Christmas and was staying at the Dundee Backpackers Hostel. This building is hundreds of years old. They have spent millions turning it into a first class hostel but it still has a creepy vibe about it.

I have had a few paranormal experiences, the latest being last night! One of the most frightening encounters occurred in Edinburgh, at Greyfriar’s Cemetery, which featured on The Scariest Places on Earth. I'll tell you a few now.

In the early hours of 31st August 1888, the body of Mary Ann Nichols was discovered in a stable entrance on Buck's Row (now Durward Street). Nichols was the first Whitechapel murder victim of the serial killer known as Jack the Ripper.

50 Berkley square's ghostly past dates back to the 1830's, when a young woman hurled herself to her death from an upstairs window.  A servant was also found in a catatonic state , paralyzed with fear, after "something horrible" in the bedroom.
