Haunted Pubs

An isolated and remote setting, amidst marshland and mud flats gives the 300 year old Shipwrights Arms a timeless aura. Numerous patrons and staff have witnessed the ghost of a sailor, wearing a large thick coat and with red glowing eyes.

The Church House Inn is considered to be one of the most haunted Pubs in the South West. The Inn is haunted by the ghost of a man who is described as being tall, bald and dressed in black. The apparition is most often seen in bedroom number 1.

With a recent surge in paranormal activity occuring at The Lion and Swan Inn, the owners have decided to start a program of paranormal nights to find proof of the ghosts witnessed by many people throughout the building.

The Mermaid Inn is reputed to be one of the most haunted pubs in England.  It is an atmospheric, thatched roof building, filled with secret passages, priest-holes and sliding wall panels, used by pirates and smugglers as a hiding places.

The Jamaica Inn was built in 1750 as a coaching Inn, to give shelter to travellers as they passed over the wind swept moors. The Most Haunted team that filmed here recorded 15 different ghosts during there investigations.

The Royal Forest Hotel is haunted by Mary's ghost, who  manifests herself in various ways. Common occurrences include the lights and cookers being on without any electricity supply, or dogs barking for no reason at something unseen.

Described by the New York Times as 'the most handsome inn in the world', the hotel also has a dark side. A number of ghosts have been witnessed by many different people and some guests have been attacked by poltergeists whilst staying the night.

The Bell Inn Hotel, historically an important stop on the Great North Road between London and York, is one of the finest surviving examples of a 17th century Coach House. The apparition of a dark figure on horseback haunts the grounds of the Inn.

The Grenadier Pub has long enjoyed a reputation as one of the most haunted pubs in London. On one of its walls are the newspaper reports of its haunted history, a small crucifix hangs on the wall of the cellar to ward off evil spirits and energies.

Several ghosts have been making their presence felt at the Rose and Crown Pub, in Bulford, Wiltshire. New Landlord John Sutton believes that the Pub is haunted by up to six different ghosts, all have made their presence known in recent weeks.

I work at a 15th century Pub, the Boot and Slipper, in Amersham. The pub is now part of the Chef and Brewer chain. We have long suspected a presence of a supernatural kind, but within the recent years more and more strange happenings have taken place.
